Sanford Medical Center provides a local full service clinic to urgent care along with assisted living/ nursing home capabilities.

Hillsboro was originally founded in 1880 under the name of Comstock and was renamed after the railroad baron James J. Hill and remains the county seat, where you will find the County Court House and Sheriff's Department.  Hillsboro is also known for having the oldest weekly newspaper in the state, the Hillsboro Banner which commenced in February, 1880.
